Like it or not, most of us belong to a stereotype.
In the movie we see the different characters have distinguishing features that categorise them. Stereotypes are qualities that makes people assigned to a particular group for their race, nationality, wealth, intelligence, sporting activities and others. As said in the beginning and end of the movie the characters are seen as a brain, an athlete, a basket case, a princess and a criminal. They are pertained to their separate groups mainly because of the way they dress, their intelligence and social status. For example Bender is a criminal because he likes to cause havok, has a rough upbringing, he is from the lower class and he rebels against everything. The way John Hughes has dressed Bender allowing him to follow his stereotype. We see him wear a working mans red flannel shirt with a denim vest, black gloves and a bandana around his ankle. Bender is not exactly intelligent academically and he doesn't really like to talk to anyone he doesn't know. Bender may not like to be held against this stereotype but in high school everyone is judged and we can almost straight away identify him as a criminal or bully.
The same concept can be brought into real life. Everyone is judged for everything, you might not think it but secretly you are being assessed and categorised. Some people might not think it but EVERYONE is part of a stereotype whether they like it or not.
