DON'T JUDGE
The film has conveyed another very strong message, which is not to judge others because they are different. All the students came into the detention room, carrying a stereotype. As a result, the other students all responded to the stereotype. For example, Brian was a nerd hence Bender made fun of him. Or the same way, Allison was kinda strange therefore nobody interacted with her. It's in our common nature to judge someone based on their appearance. However, we should not do this. We should not judge someone on whats on the outside but on whats in the inside. This is what the film tells us.
At first glance, Bender looks like a bully with no emotions and not a care in the world. When the rest of the group first saw him, they were disgusted and didn't want anything to do with him. Andrew in fact even told him that if he had disappeared no one would care. However, as the movie went on, they learnt he does in fact have feelings and that he can be quite likeable sometimes. At one stage, he sacrificed himself for the rest of the group so they wouldn't get caught. This is a good example to tell us not to judge.
